Our History
The practice dates from 1877 when Thomas Napier Whyte opened his office at 74 Yarra Street, Geelong.
After his admission A.V.J. Just commenced practice under his own name in Malop Street, Geelong and on 1 May 1896 entered into a partnership with Frederick William Drummond Moore under the name “Just & Moore”.
In 1904 Just & Moore purchased Whyte's practice and the merged firm has practised under the name of “Whyte Just & Moore” at 27 Malop Street from that time.
Moore retired in 1915 and Just continued in practice until 1952.
Subsequent partners in the firm were Francis Pelham Just (1928-1953), John Welford Stubbs (1949-1980), Niel Lindsay Davidson (1952-1985) and Garnet Stewart Fielding (1959-1995), all of whom were notable practitioners and made lasting contributions to Geelong life.
In 1996, the firm of Crawcour & Fikkers merged with Whyte, Just & Moore. That firm was founded by Henry Isaac Crawcour in 1900 and his successor, Alex Hollyhoke, took Jack Athol Crawcour into partnership in 1941. In 1971 Jack Crawcour and Hans Fikkers established Crawcour and Fikkers, from which Crawcour retired in 1981.
The present partners of the firm are Peter Spear (1974), Geoff Reeve (1980), John Butler (1995) and Matt Kinross-Smith (2009).
In 2008 the firm opened an office in Werribee to service our growing client base.
